The flag of Nevada consists of a blue base with an emblem in the upper left corner.

Nevada Flag Meaning:
The emblem features two crossed sprays of sagebrush which is the Nevada state flower.Across the top of the sagebrush is a ribbon with the state slogan 'Battle Born' on it. The slogan refers to the fact Nevada was admitted to the union of the United States during the American Civil War. The five-pointed silver star represents the state and its mineral wealth.

Nevada Flag History:
The basic design of the flag was adopted on Mar. 26, 1929. Nevada is the 36th state of the union of the United States of America, gaining statehood on Oct. 31, 1864. The current flag dates from Oct. 1, 1991, when the word Nevada was arranged below the silver star.

Interesting Nevada Facts:
Nevada's state nickname is the Silver State.

The flag is based on a design submitted by Louis Shellback III in a state run flag competition.
